Mr. Winter Meets Ms. Blondie
Episode Six - Dementia Works
Everything had gone alright until the moment Flynn Rider woke up.
While they were in
mid-air, he was beating Jack up—much to Jack’s annoyance. He kicked and flailed
around, yelling and shouting things against Jack. And although he doesn’t like
it, Jack made them fall back on the earth.
“Let me go, you
elf!” Flynn shouted as Jack was trying hard not to drop him hard.
At a survivable
height, Jack dropped Flynn.
Even if his bones
almost broke, Flynn stood up with dark eyes at Jack. Puzzled, Jack just stared
at him. He hadn’t seen Flynn get angry like this before.
They landed nearby
a house in the middle of the woods. One thing weird about it was it was tilted
towards the surface, the windows facing down. And about ten meters away, a sign
read, The Snuggly Duckling.
It made Jack
wonder why the house smelled like burning reptiles and manly sweat. But then,
Flynn drew the dagger from his satchel and charged at Jack.
With his ‘stick,’
Jack effortlessly knocked Flynn down with a single swipe. It hurts Jack much
that he needed to do that. He wasn’t made to harm.
Even if he’s taken
down once, Flynn approached Jack again angrily.
“What on earth is
wrong with you?” Jack exclaims as he avoids Flynn’s dagger. On the other hand,
he was unsure why he was dodging as physical weapons may or may not hurt him.
It came to the
moment Jack needed to freeze Flynn’s feet together. The small memory vaguely
reminded him of Rapunzel, and the danger she was in.
Flynn falls down
to the ground, crawling towards his fallen dagger meters from him. Jack kicked
it away, and it landed near the doorstep of The
Snuggly Duckling. Or maybe it wasn’t just a house at all.
“Flynn, speak up!”
Jack yelled again as Flynn was gritting his teeth, struggling to release his
feet. “What’s going on? I can help!”
“I don’t need your
help!” Flynn angrily responds. “Set me free!”
“Do you know who I
am?” Jack asks. Something was forming inside his head.
Flynn tried to
break the ice. Scowling, he said, “Yes! I know who you are and how arrogant you
are!”
That was below the
belt for Jack. As much as it was bewildering him on what happened, he can’t
think of anything to do.
But in the back of
his mind, did that black mist do something with Flynn?
“Not what I was,” Jack avers. “What’s my
name, then?”
“Who cares about
your name, weirdo?” Flynn says back quickly.
